IO3075 - Towards Circular Product Design

 

In February 2014, the first course entirely focussing on Circular Product Design was launched at the TU Delft. Bachelor Elective can be followed once a year in the third quarter and is worth 7.5 ECTS. If you are wondering how to integrate CE principles into your product development, this course will particularly be interesting. Circular product design will be taught through 4 modules with a specific focus area and 4 small projects.

Schmidt-MacArthur Fellowship

​

 

The Schmidt-MacArthur Fellowship (SMF) is a unique innovation platform for postgraduate students from design, engineering & business schools all over the world. The objective is ultimately to accelerate the transition to a circular economy. The SMF is a joint initiative between the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and the Schmidt Family Foundation.

 

Partners

The Fellowship programme is developed and delivered by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation in collaboration with Cranfield University, Imperial College London and London Business School. Other partner universities count Berkeley university of California, Cranfield University, Kedge Business School, MIT, National Institute of Design, Politecnico di Milano School of management, Stanford University, TU Delft, Tonghi University and Yale.

 

Programme

The programme starts with an online support platform and students get the opportunity to follow webinars with leading experts. This is intensified during a one week Summer School where all the students and mentors gather to gain more thorough insights on circular economy. Throughout the programme, the students are asked to conduct a Circular Economy Innovation Project exploring a way to contribute to the transition to a circular economy.

SMO Promovendi Programme

SMO Promovendi is looking for PhD candidates that want to join their Circular Economy Lab.


They will work in multidisciplinary teams on a wide range of societal challenges for approximately 10 hours per month.

Courses
ID5356 - Sustainable Design Strategies for Product Development

 

Yearning to know more about how to design sustainable products in your master? This MSc elective (3ECTS) might be something for you. You will explore in depth the sustainable design strategies Cradle to Cradle, Biomimicry and Ecodesign and learn how to apply them. This is taught through several (guest) lectures and workshops. One of the design strategies will be investigated more thoroughly as a group assignment will ask you to design a truly sustainable product using one of these strategies.
