M4ID is currently opening two positions for a Think Tank concerning labour and delivery:

We’re currently seeking a Senior Product Design Consultant and Junior level Product Designer to join our group from January to May 2016 in Helsinki. The candidates will be part of a product Think Tank in the LabOurWard project collaborating with the service and space teams. The LabOurWard project seeks to innovate on approaches to labour and delivery in low resource settings. The goal is to improve the quality of care from the women’s as well as care provider’s perspective and positively impact maternal and newborn child health outcomes. The interplay of spatial, service and product design employed in the project will provide a unique and holistic vision for the future labour ward and showcase the power of multidisciplinary innovation in the maternal and newborn field. Senior Product Design Consultant responsibilities: - Leads and manages activities for Product think tank; driving and organizing weekly meetings and touch points - Ensures team has all information, materials and resources required to reach objectives at each phase and keeps to timeline milestones - Coordinates with Project lead at main touch points and provides work progress overview to other parties (other think tanks and Advisory Group) - Brings expertise, building pertinent case studies in key product innovations in low resource settings (eg. innovation trends in birthing position support, infection control, light and furniture design) to inspire team during process and map opportunity areas - Leads and conducts research, creates and develops prototypes of selected products to display at the stakeholder event and for the final 1:1 scale of labourward. Junior Product Designer responsibilities: - Collaborate in envision product solutions for the LabOurWard. - Sketching and prototyping. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: - A portfolio showcasing products - Experience in 3D modelling - Hands-on prototyping and model making experience - Preferably with experience in designing products for the healthcare industry and/or low resource settings.
