Internship opportunity: Disruptive innovation Festival (Ellen MacArthur Foundation)
Intern Disruptive innovation Festival Based in Isle of Wight, UK
The Ellen MacArthur Foundation has an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Disruptive Innovation Festival (DIF) team to support our annual online festival. This internship will ideally be between September and end of December 2018. The DIF runs for 3 weeks every November (this will be our fifth year) and is designed to engage as wide a global audience as possible in new thinking and new ideas around a changing economy. All of our terminology is reflective of a live ‘Festival’ but, actually, only one of our events is with a live studio audience, the rest is online.
What we do: The Ellen MacArthur Foundation is a charity with the mission to accelerate the transition to a circular economy. The Foundation works across five interlinking areas:
Education & learning – inspiring learners to re-think the future through thecircular economy framework
Business & government – catalysing circular innovation and creating the conditions for it to scale
Insight & analysis – providing robust evidence about the benefits and implications of the transition
Systemic Initiatives - transforming key material flows to scale the circular economy globally
Communications - engaging a global audience around the circular economy
Role & Responsibilities: The successful candidate will take part in Supporting the DIF Manager through the following activities:
Research and analysis. Carrying out research on speakers and areas of expertise
Technical support. Working with speakers on their technical requirements to ensure sessions are broadcast to a high standard
Communications. Supporting our digital and comms team on outreach and social media activity; drafting copy when needed
Person specification
Recent experience of research work within an area related to the circular economy would be an advantage.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Fluency in either Spanish or French desirable.
Video editing skills and knowledge of Adobe would be a plus.
Strong communication skills: evidence of having written engaging documents; the ability to interact effectively at all levels of an organisation and to contribute proactively to problem solving in meetings and workshops.
A good academic record (preferably to Masters level) in an area related to the circular economy.
Strong organisational skills.
